Icons
Overview
Icons are visual assets that guide and inform the user. They communicate ideas, represent objects, and indicate action. They're simple, informative, and represent the visual language of the TELUS brand. This is a reference for all icons available in the Allium Design System. All of which can be used consistently across all platforms.
Please refer to the icons component documentation for a technical guide on how to use the Icon component, and in particular, the accessibility guidelines.
Decorative
Decorative icons don't perform a role beyond visual aesthetics and are hidden from screen readers using the aria-hidden attribute.
- Use decorative icons for visual aesthetics only
- Use content to provide clear information and use decorative icons to visually support that information
- Don't rely on decorative icons to represent information alone
- Don't use decorative icons to indicate feedback or interactivity

Interface
Interface icons indicate interactivity, but aren't interactive on their own. They rely on components for additional interactivity and information.
- Must include a visible label as part of the wrapper component
- Must include accessible text using A11yContent when the label doesn't explicitly indicate use or action. Use a11yContent appropriately as it may appear before or after the label
- Must not be used as independent interactive component or render as independent SVG. Using interface icons as decorative icons diminishes the recognition of interactivity
- Must not be used in headings
